Road Traffic Accidents

Start your claim

We understand there are plenty of dangers on the road that cause accidents. Collisions and crashes can be deeply traumatic, and can cause innocent victims to be injured, sometimes severely. If this has happened to you, you’ve every right to claim compensation. Our legally trained advisors are here to help you every step of the way.
Road traffic accidents can be very traumatic. Here at National Accident Helpline, we’ve dealt with many thousands of claims over the years. We are here to advise you throughout the claims process and make sure your journey to compensation goes as smoothly as possible.

Work-related road traffic accident claims

More than a quarter of all road traffic incidents may involve somebody who is driving as part of their work at the time (Department for Transport figures).
Health and safety law applies to work activities on the road in the same way as it does to all work activities. Employers are responsible for making sure they have adequate systems to manage work-related road safety effectively, including ensuring vehicles are regularly inspected and maintained.

They have to assess the risks, and make sure that their policies cover drivers, vehicles and journeys, making sure that:

Drivers are competent and and properly trained
Drivers have clear instructions about how to keep themselves safe
Journeys and routes are planned thoroughly
Work schedules are realistic

Common road traffic accident injury types

There are countless ways you can injure yourself on the road, or in a vehicle accident. At National Accident Helpline, we try to understand the full extent of your injuries, and the impact they’ve had on your life. However, there are some road traffic accident injuries we see everyday, which are more common than others. Some examples include:

Whiplash Injuries – occur when the head or neck has been jolted very suddenly, causing a sprain of the neck muscles.
Fractures, sprains, or broken bones
Hearing, sight or other sensory loss or impairment
Organ trauma
Head, brain or spinal injuries
We deal with everything from short-term injuries to the most traumatic cases, including fatalities, where friends and family can claim on behalf of the loved one they have lost.

The best way to find out if you’re eligible to claim is to call us on , or fill out our online form and we’ll call you back at a time that is convenient to you.

What is a whiplash injury?

Whiplash occurs when your head is painfully jolted, causing your soft tissue, ligaments or tendons to stretch and subsequently sprain. Despite the body being restrained by a seat-belt during a car accident, the head is free to move about, and can be jolted in several directions, allowing for some serious damage to be done.

In most cases whiplash is fully treatable with anti-inflammatory medication and rest, but the aches, pains, headaches and side-effects can make certain types of work uncomfortable or even impossible. This can lead to a loss of income. Any financial losses you’ve suffered will be factored into the value of your claim.

If you think you’ve suffered whiplash during a car or road traffic accident that wasn’t your fault – call us on or fill out the form and we’ll kick start your claim today.

What about uninsured drivers?

Unfortunately, there are some people out there who don’t have insurance on their car, motorbike or other road vehicle, despite it being a legal obligation. Usually your compensation would come from the insurance company used by the person who caused the accident, but in certain cases it can be taken from the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) – a fund that’s paid into by all UK insurance companies, to ensure there’s cover for people who are involved in accidents caused by uninsured or untraceable drivers.

National Accident Helpline's no win no fee service

We’re not trying to sell you anything – we’re here to help. We work on a ‘No Win No Fee’ basis, which means that our network of established solicitors take a small portion of your compensation only if you win. In the unlikely event that you lose your case, you won’t have to pay a penny.
